AKoin Launch of New Cryptocurrency Updated: 2022

Akon, real name Aliaume Thiam, speaking on June 18th, 2018 on an entrepreneurship panel talked about his plans of launching a branded form of cryptocurrency. Platinum-selling artist Akon discussed at length his plans for Akoin. A self-branded crypto asset that would one day be the currency of Akon Crypto City. The Akon Crypto city would span 2,000 acres of land just outside Dakar, the capital of Senegal, Akon’s birthplace.

“I think that blockchain and crypto could be the savior for Africa in many ways because it brings the power back to the people and brings the security back into the currency system and also allows the people to utilize it in ways where they can advance themselves and not allow the government to do those things that are keeping them down.”

Akon said during the entrepreneurship panel, according to reports from Page Six.

When attendees quizzed Akon regarding the technical aspects of Akoin, the Grammy award-winning artist responded, “I come with the concepts and let the geeks figure it out.” Initial reactions to these exorbitant plans were not so positive but Akon has shown a good track record as a philanthropist. Akon’s charity foundation Akon Lighting Africa currently provides financing for solar panels and small-scale lighting apparatuses in over 25 African nations. Akon Lighting Africa has also received a lot of awards for services rendered including a UN recognition.

Akon’s Plans For His New Cryptocurrency

Akon has big plans for his cryptocurrency. He envisions Akoin becoming the preferred currency for African countries. Akon also plans to build a “crypto city” in Senegal which will use Akoin as its primary currency. These

The Akon crypto city would be a “real-life Wakanda” with its airport, a hospital, and schools. Akoin would be the primary currency used in this “Crypto City”. Akon announced he had already secured the land for the project from Senegal’s President. The Akon crypto city was slated to begin construction in early 2019.

Akoin is built on the Stellar network and is designed to foster entrepreneurship and allow for direct peer-to-peer payments. The Akoin token can be used to purchase goods and services within the Akon crypto city. It can also be used to make cross-border payments quickly and easily.

Akon plans to build a new city in Senegal, Africa with his cryptocurrency as its primary currency.

Akon’s cryptocurrency, Akoin, is currently in its pre-launch stage. The Akoin team has not released much information about how the cryptocurrency will work. However, they have announced that the Akoin Ecosystem will be built on the Stellar network. This means that users will be able to send and receive Akoin tokens using Stellar’s decentralized platform. The Akoin team has also said that they are working on developing a mobile wallet for cryptocurrency.

Akoin was listed on the cryptocurrency exchange BitMart in 2021 with trading starting on September 17, 2021, at 10 AM EDT

The Akoin team has said that they are working on listing the cryptocurrency on more exchanges.

The BitMart listing event will also make Akoin available for trading in 10 additional countries where it was previously inaccessible, including Burundi, Central African Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Tunisia, and Uganda.

“BitMart enables us to offer Akoin to a much larger number of people, including those in the United States and more broadly across Africa, which has been a goal for us. It also creates more global awareness and liquidity for the Akoin token while bringing us even closer to realizing our vision of bringing greater opportunity and social connectedness to rising entrepreneurs.”

According to Jon Karas, co-founder of Akoin, the Bitmart listing was a crucial step for plans for the cryptocurrency

Akoin has also partnered with Shamonki Foundation, a charity that focuses on supporting entrepreneurship in Africa. Through the partnership, Akoin will provide entrepreneurs with access to the resources they need to start and grow their businesses.  The Akoin Crypto Ecosystem provides token holders with access to a wide range of blockchain decentralized applications (DApps). These apps would power new solutions for African entrepreneurs to connect, engage and scale.

The market cap for Akoin is currently at USD 5,709,993. The circulating supply is 551,890,428 AKN and the total supply is 1,000,000,000 AKN. The all-time high was $0.043703 on January 10th, 2018 and the all-time low was $0.002151 on September 28th, 2019. Currently, Akoin is ranked at 653 on coinmarketcap.com. If you are interested in purchasing Akoin, you can do so on exchanges such as bilaxy.com and akoncrypto.io.”

The Akoin team is also working on developing partnerships with businesses and organizations. These partnerships will help to promote the use of Akoin. One of these partnerships is with UNL.

Where is Akoin now?

The latest updates on Akoin show that the cryptocurrency is making significant progress in its plans to empower entrepreneurs in Africa. With new partnerships and listings, Akoin is well on its way to becoming the go-to digital currency for African entrepreneurs. UNL incentivizes users to submit geographical data with Akoin tokens and helps them build out the digital infrastructure needed to bring Africa into the future. Additionally, as new geographic information is created and addresses are generated, the DApps/ Apps in the marketplace gain access to more and more potential customers.  The Akoin team is continuing to work hard to make this happen and we are excited to see what the future holds for Akoin and UNL.

While Akoin continues to wax stronger, 2 years after the Akon laid the first stone of the $6 billion futuristic city there has not been any significant progress with the Akon Crypto City. The exciting initial vision is a far cry from the current state of Mbodiene, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of the capital of Senegal. It would appear that the progress of the Akon Crypto city has been hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the political unrest in Senegal. There is no doubt that the Akon Crypto city is a very ambitious project but it remains to be seen if it will ever be completed.

The Akoin team has not released a lot of information about their plans for the future. However, they have said that they are committed to building a global ecosystem that will help to empower people and drive social change. It will be interesting to see how the Akoin cryptocurrency develops in the future and if it can live up to the hype.
